The collective monograph The State of the Snow Leopard Population in Uzbekistan, Current and Necessary Conservation Measures, dedicated to the 80th anniversary of the Academy of Sciences of the Republic of Uzbekistan, has been published (Gritsyna, M. The snow leopard (Panthera uncia) is one of the rarest species and the only big cat inhabiting high altitudes in the Republic of Uzbekistan. This publication summarizes all available information on the current state of the snow leopard population in the country. It also provides data on the distribution and numbers of the leopard’s main food objects (mountain ungulates and marmots). The publication was supported by the UNDP/GEF/Goskomecology project “Sustainable natural resource and forest management in key mountainous areas important for globally significant biodiversity” and the Institute of Zoology, Academy of Sciences of the Republic of Uzbekistan.
